Grandchildren and Medical Supplies Give Comfort
I never thought I’d need nursing home supplies. When I was young I thought I’d live hard and die fast, but it wasn’t until I fell in love that I realized how selfish that kind of thinking was. And after I had children it seemed even more absurd. Alas, the follies of youth.
Now I am older and I need medical supplies: pills, a walker, etc. That’s natural, I suppose. The old man expires slowly, but at least he is comforted by the many people who love him. Because to die alone would be the saddest. To have no one at your funeral. Sometimes I think about this, because I don’t know what will happen to me after I die. But at least right now I am not in pain. I have nursing home supplies all around so that if I need help late at night, the nurse will be able to ease my pain.
On the weekends my grandchildren come to visit. It makes me glad that I have stayed alive (as if were a conscious choice) to see them grow up. They are teenagers now. When they are around, standing in the midst of the medical supplies, death is the last thing on my mind.
